Roswell's Bottomless Lakes

Roswell's Bottomless Lakes

Bottomless Lakes State Park is located ~15 miles southeast of Roswell, features eight sinkhole lakes formed in gypsum and mudstone units of the Middle Permian Seven Rivers Formation. The lakes are found at the downstream end of a regional aquifer system, which is recharged from the Sacramento Mountains and Pecos Slope. Groundwater moving downslope is discharged by submerged springs which
feed the lakes.  Learn more from New Mexico Tech at -https://geoinfo.nmt.edu/publications/guides/nmparks/southern/home.cfml
